Discover

PROBLEMS
  • Frequent human errors occurred while resolving camera alarms due to inconsistent workflows and unclear system feedback.
  • Information architecture lacked hierarchy, making it difficult for users to locate relevant pages and content efficiently.
  • Users struggled to find critical tools and information quickly, impacting response times.
  • Navigation inconsistencies between user roles and access levels created confusion and reduced task efficiency.

Define

IDENTIFYING USERS AND FEATURES
  • I collaborated closely with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams to understand the real pain points of our primary user groups – Operators, Supervisors, and Admins.
  • Through interviews, workflow observations, and feedback analysis, we defined and prioritized user needs focused on speed, clarity, and operational efficiency.
Key Features & User Goals

Our goal was to design an experience that helps each user quickly access critical information, take action with confidence, and reduce errors during alarm resolution.

  • Operators – Need quick, clear access to live camera feeds and alarms to take immediate action.
  • Supervisors – Require visibility over team performance, device status, and historical activity.
  • Admins – Focus on overall system health, scheduling, and configuration.

Sketches

Early sketches were developed to explore layout ideas, interactions, and content hierarchy. These rough visuals allowed fast iteration and collaboration with stakeholders before moving into structured design.

Structure

A comprehensive sitemap was mapped out based on user needs and feature priorities. This established the foundation for consistent navigation and content organization across both web and mobile platforms.

Prototypes

Through storytelling-driven design, we defined how users move through the interface naturally. Interactive elements such as pagination, dropdowns, hovers etc  to bring clarity, depth, and engagement.

Materialize

Design System & Visual Identity

In this phase, I focused on establishing a cohesive and scalable Design System that aligned with the existing brand identity while elevating usability and visual consistency across all platforms.

Key Actions
  • Developed a Design System that included color palettes, typography, iconography, grids, and spacing rules.
  • Defined UI components such as buttons, tables, cards, forms, and navigation elements to ensure consistency and reusability.
  • Extended brand identity into the product interface – applying existing colors and fonts while refining them for digital accessibility and contrast compliance (WCAG).
  • Created component documentation in Figma for developers and designers to maintain alignment across future iterations.
  • Established visual hierarchy and style rules to improve readability and guide user attention.

Launching Success & Results

We successfully launched ECAM.AI on mobile platforms, with the web version 2.0 currently in development. The launch marked a major milestone, reflecting months of design iteration, collaboration, and user-centered refinement.

Key Takeaways

This project was an incredible learning experience. As the lead UI/UX designer, I was involved in every stage—from ideation and research to final delivery.

I strengthened cross-functional collaboration with software engineers, stakeholders, and external partners, ensuring design alignment and clear communication throughout the process.

Through this journey, I developed a deeper understanding of how to create cohesive visual experiences and practical design solutions that meet both user needs and business goals.
